The First Post

So, I'm 29 next week, limping out of my twenties and into my thirties with a lot less energy and a lot more wrinkles.

So, where have the last ten years gone?

I've been a student - still am for that matter.
I've been a full-time volunteer - three separate times, for two different organisations.
I got my first 'proper job' - and lost it six months later.
I've suffered slight mental health problems - and am still embarrassed by the stigma attached to that statement.
I've seen my sister and lots of my friends get married - whilst myself remaining steadfastly single and proud of it.
I conquered Macchu Picchu and thought I was going to die on a Peruvian mountain.
I contracted amoebic dysentery and thought I was going to die in a Peruvian hospital.
I've been told I have high cholesterol and that my 'inflammation indicators' are up and I end this year waiting for my bowels to be investigated by a specialist.

Good times.

So, why the blog? Well, I'm kind of lonely. My friends have more friends than me and are always busy. My sister has her own family to look after. There's only so many times a day I can ring my mum and I live in rented accommodation and aren't allowed to have a dog. I thought a blog might be cathartic. Also, I should be writing an essay and I'm procrastinating.

I thought I would document the last year of my twenties for the world to see. Well, perhaps not the world - I'm not that interesting...
